Best Beauty Secret :)

About two years ago, I was given an “insiders”  beauty secret while on a movie set. As I sat there getting my hair and makeup finished, the conversation turned towards the inevitable chatter of beauty products. I learned something that apparently women having been doing for thousands of years haha! The secret: Apple Cider Vinegar

Now, I just get so excited writing about this because the benefits of this amazing solution are truly endless…but what’s the best part? Well, its a very inexpensive beauty secret! 🙂 Of course, it would be a girl-code crime to not share this with others so here’s some more tidbits…

Here’s a list of some of the many benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar (known also as ACV):

~Haircare (prevents dandruff and hair loss and also make hair shiny)

~Skincare (helps the skin and is great for acne and other skin conditions)

~Weight Loss (suppresses the appetite and speeds up metabolism)

~Varicose Veins (it releases any heaviness in the legs)

~Cellulite (bathe with it too!)

Now don’t get me wrong, the smell can be quite strong at first! However, you get used to it and you will notice how much it helps you.  This really is the best thing for women because it is filled with so many essential trace elements.

What to get?

The best thing to do is to buy organic, raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar that has what is called “The Mother ” in it. “The Mother” refers to mother of vinegar which is the way it looks because the ACV is unpasteurized.  You can find it in your local health food store or even online. Depending on where you live, you might even find it at your local grocery store.

My favorite brand is Bragg from Santa Barbara. In my opinion, it really is the best. However, as long as you make sure it has all of the above attributes, then any other brand will do.

My tip for a great skin toner:

Mix 3 parts distilled water and 1 part ACV into a glass bottle (beauty bottle of vinegar dispenser bottle). Put on a round cotton pad and clean and tone your skin with this mixture. Depending on your skin, you can do this each morning or a few times a week. I know girls who do this morning and evening but do what works best for you.

If you do a search on this beauty secret in a bottle, you will find a wealth of information out there and some awesome beauty tips and uses. Give it a try…you will be pleasantly surprised;)

True Beauty is in Giving Back

You know the saying “The more you give, the more you receive” ? Well, its true:) There’s nothing like the feeling of helping others and the joy you receive is the light of life. It’s what humanity is all about! There’s no reason for anyone to be rude or snobby–it doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from, what you do, or what you have. We are all here together and at the end of the day, we all need and crave the simplest  joys in life, like love.  When you do good things and have a genuine smile on your face, it will make you even more beautiful! True beauty comes from within. Someone once told me that every outfit and beauty product works best when you have a smile on your face. How true:)

So this first post I’d like to dedicate to a dear friend of mine who shared an inspiring story with me on a flight once. He and his wife adopted a beautiful little girl from Russia and the story of it all touched me very deeply. I cried. I have a huge heart for children and orphanages in particular–it comes from a family story of mine that perhaps I’ll share another time. In any event, its very personal to me.

I want you all to know that with the launch of my company, I will choose (you can help!) different charitable organizations and a portion of the proceeds of my sales will be donated to a particular charity throughout the course of the year. Of course, I’ll keep you posted:)

The first charities listed below that I’d like to highlight are in honor of my friend and his beautiful family.

Please consider these charities that help these children. They are just waiting for us…

Letters to Juliet

With this beautiful springtime weather and the feeling of summer coming, this movie comes to mind. It’s one of my many favorite films (let me tell you, I love films!) and it gives you such a wonderful summer feeling! “Letters to Juliet” has the casual yet pretty fashion that evokes this weather…it makes me want to put on a sundress and frolic in a vineyard haha;)

It’s really easy to get this look and it’s perfect for this time of year!

I love this Polyvore set! Here is the link and the credit for it:

To get this look you need:

A  beautiful summer sundress in a spring/summer color (pastels are in this season!)

Cute sandals or for a less-casual look, opt for some cute heels

Accessories should be kept to a minimum at limit it to 1-2 great pieces like some beautiful earrings or a fashionable cuff/bracelet

Hair down naturally in some beachy waves or opt for a beautiful braid (braids are in this season too!)

Makeup should be natural but to accentuate the look, play up your eyes with natural colored eyeshadow (browns are great for everyone) and pink lips. Mascara is always a must:)  I think some rouge on the cheeks in a pink or peachy color completes the look.

I LOVE H&M and TopShop and they definitely have some pretty dresses right now for this look!

This is from the TopShop in Soho New York. They have some beautiful pieces right now!

I also found this beautiful peach dress with great details at H&M in NYC!  I’m loving this one!

So yes indeed it’s easy to get the look from “Letters From Juliet” and you too will want to frolic in a vineyard;)

Elisabeth von Thurn und Taxis–German Style

So each month I look forward to the TNT section of Vogue Magazine written by Elisabeth von Thurn und Taxis! She is just so awesome as a person and her talents are even longer than her name (fashionista, stylist, blogger, Princess!, philanthropist, etc… 😉

I’d like to share her wisdom from the US Vogue April 2012 edition (pages 150 & 152)…

She talked about modern traveling and she gave some great tips to make it easier for all of us. To quote her:

“Being comfortable doesn’t have to mean looking sloppy. I certainly don’t travel in stilettos and Alexander McQueen but loathe looking too disheveled, so instead I might wear a pair of stretchy leather J Brand leggings, a crisp shirt, a big cashmere sweater, and a cozy scarf or a bit of fur”

Elisabeth von Thurn und Taxis

I really liked her philosophy because I’ve noticed all too often how more and more people don’t take the time to take care of themselves when traveling. It really matters and it is respect for those around you who would rather not smell you or see more of you than they’d like to (or see you in your favorite PJs although I admit they look comfy;) Traveling can still look great and be comfortable ! Here are a few products that she mentions in her article:

A nice wheely bag/luggage to make things easier to carry(TIP: put your purse in there too and make it an all-in-one)

Avoid complicated shoes that take forever to take off/put on through security–opt for easy flat boots so you can still protect your feet

Body Deli’s cucumber gel

Sisley Creme Reparatrice to quench thirsty skin (I also love Clinique Moisture Surge!)

Evian facial spray (I love this!)

Boiron homeopathic tablets to ease jet-lag

I would also recommend the Eyedews for your eyes as a treatment on or after a very long flight! She also mentioned flip-flops to be a big no-no! I’ve done this before and I tend to agree…your feet can get dirty and no one really wants to see or smell that on a cramped airplane! It can be unsightly even with a great pedicure so I always pack a pair in my travel bag to change shoes when I can because I love my sandals:)

I LOVE to travel…here’s to happy and safe travels for all of us;)

…Remember to catch her column each month in Vogue and show your support:)

Eyedews for You~

Hello everyone!

I wanted to share with you another great beauty find:) These are little blissful packages for your eyes–relieving darkness and puffiness as well as taking care of any lines and bags in the delicate area underneath your eyes. I gave them a try some time ago and I instantly loved them! I opened up a pack to show you…

The ingredient list on these things are amazing and it really works wonders:) There is also a special for Mother’s Day in the US that you might want to take advantage of…otherwise, any day is a great day to rejuvenate your eyes!

Here’s their website:

I saw Jenny McCarthy with a box of them in Las Vegas about a year ago and she knows what she’s doing;)
