Fashion Friday 9/28/12

Hello everyone! Happy Friday!

It’s no secret that I absolutely LOVE H&M!! In fact, I was shopping there in Sweden before they branched out everywhere…their stylish clothes for great prices are a win/win situation 🙂 I’ve always had a special place in my heart for this fabulous chain of fashion…

Lana Del Rey for H&M Fall 2012

Their men’s collection is also very good so both men and women can look uber stylish on a great budget!

Actor Joel Kinnaman for H&M Fall 2012

The good news is that you can get any one of these outfits at your local H&M! Bad news is that yesterday it was announced that the H&M online store for USA has a delayed release until next year as opposed to the much anticipated release next month. For those of you in Europe, you still get to shop online with them 🙂

Anna Dello Russo accessories collection debuting soon!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend~

A Day For Giving

Now, I know this is my fashion/beauty blog; however, to me, this all ties into charity and doing good things in life-true beauty 🙂 Today is a special day because it is the feast day of the patron saint of charities and volunteers:

St. Vincent de Paul.

I can’t think of a better post today to put in my “Giving Back” category because this really sums it up!

It was on this day, September 27th, that he died 352 years ago!!!  In the year 1883, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was founded in honor of him to serve the poor living in the slums of Paris, France.  Today, it is a huge international organization dedicated to helping those in need all around the world. I guarantee you that there is a chapter wherever you live!

I proudly support this organization and today is a special day to remind ourselves to help others in need.

So your homework today my friends is this: Go out of your way today to do something kind for someone else in need. It’s that simple. Even the smallest thing you do still counts. Just make a point to do something extra good today 🙂

Love and Peace~

Welcome Autumn!

Just a quick family blog post 🙂 Congratulations to my cousin Michelle and her husband on their latest addition to our huge family:  Autumn! She is a beautiful baby and we all say congratulations!

I get to hold her wearing pink, of course 😉

Although I don’t hold these titles, being a wife and mother is the most noble of professions!  Congratulations on this beautiful little bundle of joy and blessings…every baby is a blessing and gift from God.

And to all of you new mothers out there, congratulations to you because this fashion blog includes you too 🙂

Emmy Awards 2012

At the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles yesterday, the 2012 Emmy Awards were in full swing in the warm California heat! But it was the red carpet that was sizzling…overall I think that the bevy of attendees were definitely wearing their fashion best. It was nice to see so much class and style for a change!

My top pick for best dressed: Allison Williams wearing Oscar de la Renta

Julianne Hough wearing Georges Hobeika Couture

Someone asked me if I start my day with coffee…the answer is no, I am a green tea drinker! 🙂 I drink tea each day and I think that green tea is a wonderful beauty secret. It has so many benefits and is not only healthy, but refreshing and delicious. It gives you a beautiful glow! So, now you know 😉

Have a blessed day~

Style Report: Golf

The game of golf has been a major part of my life. It’s actually through golf that I am where I am today (great story best told over a bottle of vino;)…in any event, I love golf!

After some time away, I found myself on the driving range a few days ago and was reminded of  how much I love this sport! I was trying to think of a way to incorporate my love affair with the game into my blog and voila! Golf fashion!

Grace and Game by Jessica Matthews

L.A. designer De De Johnson (the woman credited with creating the pedal pusher) playing golf in 1952.

It even makes it on the runways!

Love this look!

Editorial from 2008?!  Time flies!

Remember that golf is a sport steeped in tradition and etiquette. Keep your golf fashion fresh and beautiful but remember that it should stay respectful of the game and where you play. Most golf courses and clubs have a certain dress code for both men and women so be sure to be aware of these before you go. If you stick with the basics of golf etiquette though, you can’t go wrong!

Here are some great examples:

Of course, some of my best golf games have been while playing barefoot with friends at sunset haha…Just be respectful, follow these tips (tradition and etiquette are beautiful things!), and enjoy the beauty of the golf course while playing this historic sport.

Update: For those of you on the West Coast of the US: Tomorrow, September 18th, is the 13th Annual LA Kings Golf Tournament benefiting the LA Children’s Hospital. It will be held at the Pacific Palms Conference Resort in the City of Industry. For more information visit:  http://kings.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=70123

Jessica Stroup and Nails for Fall

The other day I had the pleasure of working with Jessica Stroup. She is just as beautiful in person as she is on the screen and in pictures! She’s also very nice.

Here she is looking stylish at the June 2012 premiere of Ted in Hollywood

Notice how she wears nude colored accessories and nails so well?

Here are a few nail trends to take you through this Fall 2012 season

Nude colored nails never steer you wrong…pick a shade that is a little different from your skin tone but still elongates your fingers

Pink colored nails are a beautiful way to transition into the holidays. It also looks amazing wearing black and gives that “pop” needed for colder weather!

You can even go with a more burgundy colored hue that’s perfect for Fall…

2.OPI, Bastille My Heart

3. Zoya, Paris

4. Nars, Saratoga

5. Orly, Ever Burgundy

Of course, you can never go wrong with clean, natural nails with perhaps a little clear polish. French nails are always stylish too…

What colored nails will you be wearing this season?

People Magazine’s 2012 Best Dressed List

Hello everyone! My goodness, there is a lot going on lately 🙂 New York Fashion Week has been in full swing and now People Magazine has named California girl Gwyneth Paltrow as the world’s best dressed woman for 2012. Known for her elegant, simple style, Gwyneth really deserves this title and so do the other girls on this special list…

It could be because she is married to Coldplay’s Chris Martin and is an amazing actress and businesswoman… but it’s mostly because she chooses classic shapes and palettes… 😉

Paltrow’s stylist, Elizabeth Saltzman, told People that the actress was not a slave to trends. “She doesn’t do fringe. She has a uniform. It’s simple, not overdone,” Saltzman said. (NY Daily News)

Congratulations Gwyneth!

Beauty Spot: LUSH Cosmetics

While running through the Orlando, Florida airport not too long ago, I came upon a store that smelled so delicious that I just had to stop inside and see why:)

Lush Cosmetics is a company that HANDMAKES soaps, lotions, gels, scrubs, masks, cosmetics etc. using all natural ingredients. They are all made in Canada (factories in Vancouver and Toronto) using fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, butters and oils. This company is simply amazing!

I went crazy in this store! They keep their soaps unpackaged so you can pick them up, smell them and decide on a favorite. Then they cut you a fresh slice, weigh it and wrap it up for you…

Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub

Honey I Washed the Kids Real Honey Soap

Sexy Peel Citrus Smoothie Soap

I wish I could put a “scratch ‘n’ sniff” sticker on this blog so you could smell just how amazing these products are…they smell so good that you want to eat them (technically you can, but just don’t, ok?) 🙂

 www.lush.com

Fun Fact: 16,768 lbs. of organic olive oil is added to their products to soften and smooth the skin

They also do A LOT of charity work. So check out their website and if you happen to run past one of their stores, I’m betting that you’ll want to pop in there too 🙂

P.S. A big Thank You to Khaliah and Jenn for helping me out in their Orlando Airport store!
